Delete Your Data

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Most of what Mai Pantry knows about you never leaves your phone. Your shopping lists, pantry, purchase history, meal plans, tracked products and saved home location are stored on the device only — we never receive them. Deleting the app, or clearing its storage, removes all of that permanently.

The only things held on our servers are the things you actively send us:

  • Price corrections and sold-out reports submitted from a product page
  • Feedback messages sent from Settings
  • Shared shopping lists you create or join, including the display name you chose and the items you added
  • Mai Pantry has no accounts. There is no username, password or profile to close — your submissions are linked to a random identifier generated on your device, which we store only as a one-way (SHA-256) hash.

Delete it from the app — fastest and most reliable

  • Open Mai Pantry
  • Go to Settings (the last tab)
  • Under Privacy, tap Delete my data
  • Confirm
  • This permanently deletes every price report and feedback message linked to your device, and tells you how many items were removed. It cannot be undone.

If you do not see that option, your copy of the app predates it — update to the latest version, or email us using the address below and we will do it for you.

    Shared shopping lists

Shared lists are handled separately, because other people may still be using them:

  • If you created the list — open it from the Lists tab and delete it. That removes the list and its items for everyone in it.
  • If you joined someone else's list — leave the list. The items you added belong to that list, which is the owner's; ask them to delete it if you want it gone entirely.
  • Ask us to delete it for you

Email hello@maipantry.com.au and we will action any deletion request.

One limitation worth being upfront about: because we store only a one-way hash of the device identifier, we usually cannot find your submissions from an email address alone. If you still have the app installed, the in-app option above is both faster and more reliable. If you have already uninstalled, tell us what you can — roughly when you submitted, and which products — and we will do our best to locate and remove them.

    How long we keep things

  • On-device data — until you delete it or uninstall the app
  • Reports and feedback — until you delete them, or until storage limits require trimming the oldest
  • Rate-limiting records — held in server memory only, and discarded whenever the server restarts
  • Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
